Haralson County General Description Under the direction of the Center Manager, the Family Advocate will work to ensure that all aspects of the social service, health, parent involvements component meet or exceed the requirements set forth in the Head Start Performance Standards and the policies set forth by Tallatoona CAP, Inc.
Duties and Responsibilities Provides assistance and maintains cooperative relations with the community agencies and Head Start personnel.
Conduct interviews and assist families with developing needs and goal assessments.
Document and track follow up and referral.
Submit a monthly newsletter article and/or information as required to Family Service Specialist.
Submit weekly and monthly reports to the Family and Community Partnership Manager as directed by the Center Manager.
Maintain a parent resource center to provide families with information to address their needs and interests.
Collaborate with the Family Service Specialist to plan and conduct parent workshops relative to family needs and goal assessment.
Perform accurate data entry of family case management into ChildPlus Program including:
health information, contacts, referrals and follow-up.
Maintain files in the areas of social services, health and nutrition services in accordance with agency directives.
Attend and plan in collaboration with the Center Manager, in planning parent meetings/trainings monthly as required by supervisor.
Prepare concise written documentation as required to performance duties.
Conduct home visits and parent conferences in accordance with agency directives.
Demonstrate appropriate behavior, professionalism and positive interaction with families and the community.
Provide assistance to other departments as needed.
Collaborates with other programs operated by the agency to provide services for families.
Attend meetings and trainings as required Maintain confidentiality in accordance with agency policy.
Reports all needs related to service area delivery to the Center Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must be effective in both verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to plan and organize.
Must have the ability to work with individuals inclusive of all ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds.
Basic knowledge of community and its resources is required.
Must have basic computer skills such as e-mail, data entry and word processing Individual with both oral and written English/Spanish bilingual skills preferred.
Must have access to a vehicle, a valid drivers' license and maintain adequate liability insurance and must be able to attend required meetings and trainings at various locations Education and Experience Associate degree in Human Services field or related field; will consider equivalent combination of education, training, skills, and experience Demonstrated computer and office skills required Work Environment This job operates in a childcare environment.
This role routinely requires interactions with children, parents, noisy and fast paced day to day activities.
Requires uses of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
